Degrees: PhD (2003), Dr.Sc. (2011)

Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, ESC “Institute of Biology”

Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science (2013)

Theses : PhD thesis “The pathways of histamine effects on gastric acid secretion”

Dr.Sc. thesis “Biochemical mechanisms of inflammatory bowel disease pathogenesis”

Scientific interests: Physiological and molecular mechanisms of intestinal pathogenesis: approaches for prevention and treatment based on newly discovered mechanisms. Objectives: 1. Role of endothelial and epithelial barrier integrity in the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease: implication into hypoxia, endothelial-associated transcription factors, pathologic angiogenesis, endogenous regulators of endothelial permeability (VEGF, dopamine, mast cell); 2. The mechanisms of antibiotic-induced disturbance in intestinal barrier integrity as the causative factor of inflammatory bowel diseases development: implication into microbial composition, role of short-chain fatty acids and its receptors, mucus and ion secretion, tight junction proteins expression, mast cells degranulation; 3. Preclinical and clinical studies on the most effective therapeutic schemes for probiotic and prebiotic treatment during antibiotic-therapy.

Publications: Co-author of more than 100 original papers.
